Musings of a pondering mind - 1

Image
There comes a point in life for every individual, when he/she thinks if whatever he/she is doing right now, or whatever he/she wants to do sometime in the future, is worth it, really, in the end! What is the point of everything? Every decision we take, every big step we take, how is it going to affect the world we live in, finally?  What was the purpose of putting us on this place called earth, by our creator? Is it true that what we do now, will affect our so called after-life, if there is any? Will karma take it's course once we are dead. That all our actions will be carefully paid for?  Or is it just luck, that perhaps Earth was luckily placed at the right distance from the sun, hence letting the natural elements present in the universe to react and generate things around us. That 'life' begins from a mere cell, points us to the direction of notions of co-incidence, more than anything. Hey, the temperature was just about right and other basic necessities were jus...

The Purple Scarf

Re-posting this on my blog, in memory of Arya Anwesha.  This story does not resemble any real life character or place, whatsoever. It was friendship day. And the famous girl gang of the neighborhood was out celebrating the bond that kept them together. Friendship. To add icing to the cake, there was an entry of a stranger, a guy. A Cute guy, I must say! A gang of hot girls and a cute guy. What more can I say? And that too, a kind that is very rare- a guy reading a book! Unaware of the distraction he was causing, he walked on the roads. Such people are probably the reason for 30% of the major road accidents in the world. Well, the girls followed him like how chicks follow their....mother (I’m talking about hens for god's sake. What did you think I was gonna say?). However, he seemed to ignore the otherwise-much-craved-for-attention. It continued for a distance. After a while, the guy sat on a bench in the park, still not bothering to react to all the hooting and whistlin...

Distance

Image
I closed my eyes when the wind blew, and searched for your scent. I tried to hear your voice, in the whistles that the wind sent. I tried feeling your touch on my skin, when the wind grazed my arm. I tried to perceive your presence next to me, when the wind was so warm. And then, when I opened my eyes, you were in front of me.. Not in matter, not for real.. But you were there, in front of me. I slowly lifted my hand, to brush my fingers on your face. And just like that..in a split second, you disappeared, without leaving a trace! I curse the distance,  As I wait for the wind to blow again; I curse the longingness, As I prepare to close my eyes, yet again!                                                              -Kruthi PS. I'd written this sometime during college.

Make way, I'm late!

I kick start my scooty, because the battery is down and the self-starter won't work. One kick, two kicks and third time's the charm.   *Roaring sound of the motor..that dies down with a puff*  “Damn!”, I curse. After a few futile efforts, a random guy passing on the road walks up and starts it. I smile with gratefulness. And now, I have to begin the most tiresome part of my day. Riding in the traffic of Bangalore; including Silk board!   So much dust and pollution all over, man. This is what is going to kill me some day, if not the traffic. The only good thing is that, until I get out of my area, there is no traffic!  *An auto going in the front, suddenly takes a sharp right, to avoid a pothole*  I apply sudden break. These auto guys, I tell you! They think they own the roads! No sense of driving at all! Taking sharp turns, turning suddenly, without even looking behind! Charging unbelievable fares! If you try to argue, they get their whol...

You go, girl!

"If it is anything other than a baby boy, don't even think of giving birth to it!" , said the mother-in-law and dismissed the whole argument. Nikhil was still a bit apprehensive about it, but he knew that his mother wouldn't change her mind. He went to his expectant wife and conveyed her the bad news, rather heartlessly. He blamed her for having a girl; as if she had a choice. Latha sobbed all night, thinking about the little baby growing in her tummy – her dreams of nurturing the baby and caring for it all day long, was crushed. She went to the hospital the next day, to have an abortion. Nikhil accompanied her. The doctor performed a test on the mother to find out if it was okay to continue with it; only to come to a conclusion, that there was no way for an abortion to happen. If the baby were to be aborted, the baby and the mother would die. Latha secretly rejoiced and thanked The Lord for being on her side. Her mother-in-law on the other hand, wa...

Train of thought

Anila walked into her room, heaving a sigh of relief. Looking at her bed felt like a blessing after a hard day's work in front of the laptop. She decided to freshen up as quickly as possible and then doze off. After two weeks of hardcore coding, the build was finally sent to the client and the whole team was glad that it was finally over. However, the exhaustion overpowered the accomplishment of successful winding up of the project. She changed into her pajamas and lied down on her bed and began to fathom..  “ Phew..That felt like a year. But it was a very challenging project. I don't think I could have done it without Rahul's help. He's a nice guy but I don't like him boasting and yapping off about work, all the time. I guess he thinks he is God or something, cuz he considers himself to be an atheist. I'm pretty sure God is looking down at him and thinking “These humans!”. I know God likes me..cuz I visit the temple in our neighborhood, whenever possibl...

Live and let live!

This is the first poem I wrote, as a kid. I was in class 5 when I had written this.  I have always been harmless and peace-loving. :P Fly, fly, fly the kite, high, high, high with might. Never pull it down, or never let your face frown! Move from one place to another, but never cut the strings of others!

Just tring..tring.. or more?

Over a period of time , technology grows so fast; like a group of cells multiplying infinite times but only getting better at doing what it does, each time. In the period of twenty years of my life- I have seen so many changes that it almost feels like a different era. Just imagine, sitting exactly where you are now but, twenty years ago. Picture this: A cartoon playing on your picture tube TV screen with Tom and Jerry on (I mean, who hates them right?). “ Muqabula..muqabula.. ”” playing on the radio somewhere in the background. The pure non-polluted air blowing in from the window where the sparrows are chirping away to glory. Wanting to get up and change the channel, but too lazy to move your bum from the sofa. Can you think of just the above picture in your mind for more than two minutes? Without worrying to check your whatsapp messages from your loved ones; or if your status/picture on facebook has been liked or commented on; or if your instagram video has the maxi...
